2022 Organizational Meeting

I am writing to everyone to let you know we have just confirmed that we will be able to use the Elks Lodge again this year for rehearsals and meetings, so we are having an organizational meeting this coming Tuesday, the 29th of March at the Elks Lodge in Dunkirk at 7PM.

Anyone who is interested is welcome! At this time, it’s still unclear how the season will unfold and if we have enough members to participate in parades so come to the meeting if you can! That should help us determine how to proceed.

At this time we are hoping to have 4 rehearsals leading up to the Memorial Day Parade in Dunkirk. April 19th, 26th, May 10thand 24th and the Parade on the 30th. Other offers are coming in and it seems like many of the places that we have marched before will be having parades again this year.

Hope to see you there!

Dave Fridmann

See you soon!

2020 Season Cancellation Due to COVID-19

Fredonia Farm Festival Parade 2019

The WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps regret to announce we are cancelling our 2020 parade season.  In the face of this global pandemic the most responsible thing to do for the safety of our members is simply not be in close proximity to each other or the public.  Reports from parade organizers are that they are cancelling their events to comply with social distancing guidelines and the Corps board agrees that it is necessary that we also follow these guidelines until such time as we have a way to combat this virus in a way that does not threaten the health of our members.

There are some undeniable truths about bugles.  We are pushing as much air from our lungs around as we can!  This is definitely a problem regarding the spread of COVID-19.

In the meantime, we hope to engage with Corps members remotely throughout the summer and try to keep our spirits and our chops up so that whenever we can perform again we will be ready to go.  Anyone interested in contacting the Corps can reach us at wnyalumni@gmail.com.

Thank you and stay safe.  We hope to make music and perform in local parades with you all again soon!

WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps readies for 2019 season

MAY 1, 2019

The WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps has been preparing for the 2019 season with regular rehearsals at the Elks lodge on Central Avenue since January this year.

Continuing the long tradition of Drum Corps in the area, The WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps is a corps that has members of all ages and experience who are interested in having fun, marching in parades, and making music.

Dave Fridmann, Corps Director, offered his overview of this year’s corps, “We’ve been growing little by little for over the past few years. This year’s corps has really solidified as a unit. Our retention has created a consistency in our performance that has not been possible in the past.” he stated. “Our sound and musicality are on a new level that we have never been able to achieve before.”

The group is seeking new members to be part of the alumni family. The next practice is May 7, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 428 Central Ave., Dunkirk, and the first parade is Memorial Day in Dunkirk. If interested, contact the corps at wnyalumni@gmail.com
