The WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps Inc. finished its 2016 parade season on a high
note. On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Alumni marched in their final parade of the year, the Salamanca-Seneca Falling Leaves Festival. After the parade, three of the music units played concerts, including the Alumni. At the end of the concert, the Alumni Corps joined in with the North Coast Brass Co. from Erie, Pa. Together they played “Amazing Grace” to the delight of the large crowd.
What a weekend of celebration for the Alumni. The day before, on Oct. 1, the Alumni enjoyed their third annual banquet. Eight members were honored for their 50 or more years in drum corps with certificates of appreciation. Honored were Carl Waterman, Bob Peterson, Joe Latona, Jim Ceci, Dan Forsburg, Carl Vullo and Tom Cockshott. Missing were Bob Dopler, Bob Hayward and Jerry Johnson. Honored with the Corps “Workhorse Award” were Michael Howard and Mary Fridmann. The Corps presented the Alumni’s “Top Gun” award for 2016 to John Waterman. The Corps’ families, friends and guests were entertained with a full concert by the Corps. Afterwards, Corps Director Bob Teclaw thanked the Corps for a great season and promised an even bigger and better corps next year.
The Alumni Corps will begin its recruiting season next month and would like to thank all of its sponsors and friends who helped to make the season so successful. Anyone interested in joining the Alumni family can call Jack at 410-2682 for more information.
