Pulaski Day Parade To Host Impressive Array of Grand Marshalls From Polish Bishop John Mack To *M*A*S*H Star Loretta Swit

The Pulaski Day Parade will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2016 going west from the Thruway Plaza to Harlem Road and north to the Cheektowaga Town Park.

The public is invited at no charge.

The Pulaski Day Parade has taken place for 78 years to salute the heroism of Revolutionary War General Casimir Pulaski. Pulaski died in the Revolutionary War and is considered the Father of the American Cavalry.

This year the Pulaski Day Parade is sponsored by the taxpayers of the County of Erie, Dr. Robert Smolinski , Ukrainian Federal Credit Union, Cheektowaga Councilman Jerry Kaminski, WIVB TV and Time Warner Cable.

The General Pulaski Association, which organizes the parade, will offer an impressive array of Pulaski Day Honorary Grand Marshals:

*Acting Consul General of Poland Honorable Mateusz Stasiek. Stasiek was previously Deputy Consul General of Poland in charge of Polish community cooperation.

* Bishop John Mack of the Polish National Catholic Church. Mack has served as Bishop Ordinary of the Central Diocese of the Polish National Catholic Church since 2012 with the Buffalo-Pittsburgh Diocese.

*Restaurateur Russsell Salvatore, who owns and operates Russell’s Steaks Chops and More on Transit Road in Williamsville.

*Don Postles. Postles anchors for WIVB TV 4 newscasts at 5, 6 and 11. He has interviewed Polish President Lech Walesa in Poland on many occasions.

* Loretta Swit; Swit co-starred in the TV show *M*A*S*H* playing the role of Major “Hot Lips”

Houlihan for which she won two Emmy Awards.

*Cheektowaga Councilman Jerry Kaminski. Kaminski is the owner of Kaminski and Sons Trucking Co., is former Deputy Supervisor of Cheektowaga, and is a Pulaski Parade Director.

*Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw. Mychajliw, the son of Polish and Ukrainian immigrants, before becoming Erie County Comptroller was an investigative journalist for Channel 2.

*Erie County Legislature Chairman John Mills. Mills has served as a legislator for 11 years and Republican leader 9 years.

*Former Sheriff Thomas Higgins. Higgins was Sheriff from 1985 to 1997. He has served in law enforcement for 42 years, half that time as a Buffalo Police officer.

The Pulaski Association is headed by its president, Brian D. Rusk. The Parade Chair is Mira Szramel and the Co Chair is Edward Reska, Jr.

The General Pulaski Association has budgeted $6,000 in parade prizes. Veteran units, firefighters, religious organizations, bands, floats, corporate floats and unique units are still welcome. Those interested should call Parade Chair Mira Szramel 681-6739 or email ziggyszr@msn.com
