The WNY Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps celebrated Valentine’s Day with a pizza party following the Feb. 14 rehearsal.

Five new members enjoyed the afternoon practice, as three more new members are planning on joining at the next rehearsal. The drum line, with the exception of a couple of bass drummers and a couple of cymbal players, is full. Although new horn players have been added, the Corps is still looking for more. There are openings in the A-section as well as color guard.

Jack Kujawa, corps business manager, offered his overview of this year’s Corps.

“We’ve been growing little by little for over three years. This year’s corps has grown so much more than expected. We went from four drummers last year to 13 so far this year,” he stated. “Our horn line has more than doubled its size. As in any drum corps, you gain some new members and lose some, so the total number of corps members is uncertain. However, we will be bigger and better than last year.”

The group is seeking new members to be part of the alumni family. The next practice is Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at American Legion Post 62 on Central Avenue in Dunkirk.

Have fun this summer. Join today.
